Mr. Fisher is taking down a 200 year old barn and bringing the wood to DHS for us to repurpose. The reclaimed lumber industry is a rapidly growing industry in American and represents almost 20% of lumber sales in the United States. Typically reclaimed lumber is used for hardwood flooring. Popular reclaimed species include, heart pine (trees milled before the industrial revolution) and American Chestnut (a specie that sufferd a blight in 1904 and no longer exists.)

The lumber that Mr. Fisher has been bringing in is mostly heart pine, and will be used to make table tops in the DHS woodworking electives. As part of this project Mr. Fishers math classes are going to estimate the cost of the table tops based on raw material provided, hours of labor, and processed material.
